Adriatic LNG hits peak daily send-out milestone

Adriatic LNG hits peak daily send-out milestone

The Adriatic LNG regasification terminal located off the Veneto coastline, in the northern Adriatic Sea, reached a milestone, delivering 27.5 million cubic meters of gas into the national network.

The facility first returned to near 100 percent nominal regasification capacity at the end of February, delivering 20.8 million cubic meters of gas into the national gas network operated by Snam Rete Gas.

The adverse weather conditions affected the unload of liquefied natural gas also affecting the delivery to the national gas network.

The 27.5 million cubic meters delivered on March 2, is the new record for the facility since it started operations, Adriatic LNG, the company that operates the facility, said in a statement.

The facility operated at its peak regasification capacity, 20 percent above its nominal capacity in order to achieve the milestone.

Operations at the terminal started in 2009, covering over 10 percent of Italy’s natural gas consumption. The facility is owned by the units of ExxonMobil and Qatar Petroleum with participation from the Italian natural gas network operator Snam.

The terminal mainly imports LNG from the world’s largest producer, Qatar, but has also received cargoes from Egypt, Trinidad and Tobago, Equatorial Guinea, Norway, Nigeria and the United States.
