The United States Army Corps of Engineers has decided to discard the Annova LNG permit application for its liquefied natural gas export facility proposed for the Brownsville Ship Channel in Texas.

The decision has been made due to Annova LNG’s inability to answer to USACE request for additional information on the gas supply pipeline that would supply natural gas to the facility.

In its request filed in May this year, USACE informed Annova LNG to submit additional information within 30 days.

“In response to our May 21, 2018, letter, we received a letter from Mr. Ravi Ganti, senior vice president of Annova LNG Common Infrastructure, LLC, updating applicant and authorized agent information and requesting an extension of time to November 2, 2018, to respond to the Corps request for gas supply pipeline information,” the USACE letter reads.

Following the extension request, USACE determined that the length of the requested extension is not acceptable, effectively withdrawing the application.

The Annova LNG Brownsville project would bring a liquefied natural gas terminal to the Port of Brownsville. According to the initial project schedule, a final investment decision was expected in the first half of the year, however, this has been impacted by the withdrawal.

Speaking to Business Journal, Annova LNG spokesperson said the company is moving forward with the project and is advancing commercial negotiations for the transportation of natural gas suppliers to the plant.

The Corps have withdrawn the application, however, it can be re-submitted once the requested information is available, which is expected by this fall.

The 6 mtpa facility will also include two 160,000-cbm LNG storage tanks and one LNG carrier dock.
