Australia: Gladstone LNG exports reach record high

LNG exports from the three liquefaction plants located on Curtis Island off Gladstone reached a record high level in August, according to the data from the Gladstone Ports Corporation.

Australia Pacific LNG, Queensland Curtis LNG and Santos GLNG exported 23 cargoes or 1.51 million mt of the chilled fuel in August, up by 5 percent as compared to July.

This is also the first time that the LNG exports from the three plants reached the 1.50 million mt mark, according to the data.

Most of the August LNG exports went to China, the world’s largest energy consumer. China received 667,957 tonnes from the three Curtis Island LNG plants in August, as compared to 663,878 tonnes in July.

The rest of the August LNG exports were sent to Singapore (334,342 tonnes), followed by South Korea, Japan, Malaysia and India.

In the January-August period, the three Curtis Island LNG plants shipped 167 cargoes or 10.89 million mt of the chilled fuel, the data showed.

China took most of the volumes in the mentioned period (4.65 million mt), followed by South Korea (1.83 million mt), Japan (1.32 million mt) and Singapore (1.28 million mt).
