The Dutch electrical installations specialist, Bakker Sliedrecht, has been contracted to engineering, delivery, and commissioning of the main electrical power package for the dual-fuel offshore installation vessel Orion.
Being built for the Belgian dredging specialist DEME at the COSCO Shipyard in China, the vessel features dual-fuel engines capable of running on liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Orion’ will be deployed by DEME’s subsidiary GeoSea for the construction of the largest offshore wind farms and deliver offshore construction services.
With a total installed capacity of 44,180 kW Orion will be equipped with a crane with a lifting capacity of 3,000 tons at more than 50 meters. The loads can be lifted to a height of more than 170 m.
Bakker Sliedrecht’s scope of work includes generators, propulsion electrical motors, switchboards, electrical drive systems, integrated automation system, electrical system integration including construction supervision, commissioning and sea trials.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 2019.
