Cheniere Energy said that, on Thursday, substantial completion of the second liquefaction train at the Sabine Pass facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, has been achieved.

The company said on Friday the commissioning of the second liquefaction train has been completed and the EPC contractor, Bechtel, is turning over the control of the Train 2 to Cheniere.

The turnover will be done in coordination with a previously planned outage to improve the performance of the flare systems at the Sabine Pass liquefaction project, as well as to perform scheduled maintenance to Train 1 and other facilities.

Under a sale and purchase agreement with Gas Natural Fenosa LNG, the date of first commercial delivery for Train 2 of the project is expected to occur in August 2017 upon which the SPA’s 20-year term commences.

Prior to the date of the first commercial delivery, GNF has certain rights to early cargoes produced from Train 2, according to the SPA.

Cheniere is developing and constructing up to six liquefaction trains, which are in various stages of development and construction at the Sabine Pass LNG terminal adjacent to the existing regasification facilities.

Trains 1 and 2 have achieved substantial completion, with the first cargo from Tran 1 shipped in February, while Train 3 is undergoing commissioning. Trains 4 and 5 are under construction, and Train 6 is fully permitted.

Each liquefaction train is expected to have a nominal production capacity of approximately 4.5 million tons per annum of LNG.

Cheniere has entered into six third-party LNG sale and purchase agreements that in the aggregate equate to approximately 19.75 mtpa of LNG.

4th Annual Upstream West Africa Summit 2018

In June 2018, Senegal will play host to the No.1 Annual B2B Upstream Oil & Gas event, which will bring together the senior decision makers from across the prolific West Africa region to discuss the trends and challenges currently facing the Oil and Gas industry.

Since the discovery by Tullow Oil in 2007 of the Jubilee Field in Ghana, the Upstream sector has refocused its efforts to explore similar plays around the entire West and North West African coast. These efforts were rewarded with Cairn Energy’s prolific discovery in 2014 followed by Kosmos’ in 2015. The West Africa region has the industry’s spotlight firmly focused on further unlocking the potential of this largely underexplored region.

Companies that will be looking toward further unlocking the deepwater hydrocarbon potential of West Africa include: PETROSEN, BP, Kosmos Energy, Cairn Energy, FAR, Total E&P, Premier Oil, Shell, Tullow Oil along with the Ministries and key solution providers.
