Singapore-based gas shipping giant BW Group has ordered two liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers at South Korea’s Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME).

A spokeswoman for BW confirmed to LNG World News on Thursday that BW’s LNG unit is the owner behind the order announced by Daewoo on December 5.

To remind, DSME did not reveal in the announcement the name of the shipowner saying it was a US owner.

The two 174,000-cbm MEGI LNG carriers, priced at some $370.1 million, are scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2021.

The deal also includes an option for 4 additional LNG carriers.

BW LNG’s fleet comprises of 25 vessels out of which 19 vessels are in operation and 6 ships are on order with Daewoo.
