Iveco signed an agreement to supply ten Stralis LNG-fueled vehicles to i-FAST Automotive Logistics, a company operating in the vehicle transportation sector.
This will be the first delivery in Europe of vehicles for LNG-powered car transport, Iveco said in its statement.
In recent months, i-FAST-Automotive Logistics has tested the and LNG model, which is equipped with tanks for both liquid and gaseous natural gas.
The decision to deploy LNG trucks in car transport comes following the test results and is based on the expected short-term developments in the Italian distribution network.
There are currently six LNG stations in Italy, but new liquid natural gas distribution units are planned for later this year, bringing the total number to ten, Iveco said.
The new trucks will be used mainly for transporting and distributing cars on the Italian territory.
