China: Dec LNG Imports Rise

China, the world’s biggest energy consumer, imported record amounts of liquefied natural gas and coal in December to meet increased demand for winter heating.

The country imported 2.43 million tons of liquefied natural gas in December, up 34 percent compared to a year earlier, customs data showed.

China’s coal imports also rose 1 percent to 35.46 million metric tons.
