China’s November LNG imports up
LNG imports into China reached 1.8 million tons in November, rising 3.47 percent year on year according to the General Administration of Customs data.
Compared to the of October, China’s LNG imports rose 13.5 percent due to peak winter season.
The majority of LNG supply to China came from Qatar and Australia, with imports from Qatar increasing 40 percent year on year which, according to Platts, brings the volumes total to around 4.7 million tons in 2015 so far. Volumes from Australia are close to 600,000 tons.
China has contracted 38 million tons of LNG per year, but so far in 2015 it has only imported 17.5 million tons of liquefied natural gas.
