CNOOC's senior official under investigation

China’s top prosecutor said that China National Oil Company’s senior official is under investigation for suspicion of having received bribes.

China’s President Xi Jinping launched a campaign to try and crack down the corruption.

Luo Wizhong, general manager of CNOOC Gas & Power group had also been detained, reports Reuters. Luo is the general manager of CNOOC Gas & Power’s international trading and in charge of investments into gas import terminals and LNG import deals.

The official is the first CNOOC’s senior executive to be caught in Beijing’s war against corruption.
