DoE authorizes additional LNG exports from Sabine Pass terminal

The U.S. Department of Energy issued an order authorizing Cheniere’s Sabine Pass LNG to export domestically produced liquefied natural gas.

Under this order, Sabine Pass LNG can export approximately 203 bcf per year of natural gas. The authorization is for the term of 25 years.

With this recent approval, Sabine Pass LNG is authorized to export 1.509,3 Bcf of natural gas per year to FTA countries and 803 bcf per year to non-FTA countries, stands in the DoE filing.

Cheniere Energy informed that the project completion for the Stage 1 (Train 1 and 2) and Stage 2 ( Train 3 and 4) of the Sabine Pass Liquefaction project are at 83.1% and 56.5%, respectively.

DoE added that Sabine Pass LNG proposed to expand the liquefaction project and add two more LNG production trains.

Exports of liquefied natural gas from the Sabine Pass LNG terminal are expected to begin in 2015.
