France’s Doris Engineering completed a conceptual engineering study on the development of the Equus gas field off Australia for Western Gas, a Perth based operator.

Western Gas is looking to develop the field located in the Carnarvon Basin basin, about 200 kilometers north-west of Onslow in Western Australia, by 2023.

The company intends to deploy an offshore processing facility and a pipeline to shore for the project.

Development will be phased, with the initial development comprising three production wells linked by subsea infrastructure to a floating production storage and offloading facility.

Facilities onboard the offshore facility will include gas dehydration, condensate stripping and gas compression.

Dry sales gas will be piped to shore by way of a 220-km pipeline with landfall near Onslow, which has in recent years undergone a significant transformation to become a regional service center to the oil and gas industry.

Onshore facilities will be dependent on the outcome of gas marketing arrangements. Gas supply is expected to be up to 250 terajoules of gas a day, Western Gas’ statement reads.

Alternative development options are being progressed, given the proximity to current and planned infrastructure and the opportunity to collaborate with other resource owners and accelerate gas development.

4th Annual Upstream West Africa Summit 2018

In June 2018, Senegal will play host to the No.1 Annual B2B Upstream Oil & Gas event, which will bring together the senior decision makers from across the prolific West Africa region to discuss the trends and challenges currently facing the Oil and Gas industry.

Since the discovery by Tullow Oil in 2007 of the Jubilee Field in Ghana, the Upstream sector has refocused its efforts to explore similar plays around the entire West and North West African coast. These efforts were rewarded with Cairn Energy’s prolific discovery in 2014 followed by Kosmos’ in 2015. The West Africa region has the industry’s spotlight firmly focused on further unlocking the potential of this largely underexplored region.

Companies that will be looking toward further unlocking the deepwater hydrocarbon potential of West Africa include: PETROSEN, BP, Kosmos Energy, Cairn Energy, FAR, Total E&P, Premier Oil, Shell, Tullow Oil along with the Ministries and key solution providers.
