FERC stops Louisiana LNG pre-filing review, DoE seeking company response

FERC stops Louisiana LNG pre-filing review, DoE seeking company response

The United States Department of Energy issued an order seeking Louisiana LNG Energy to show cause for its inactivity on the proposed LNG export project to be constructed in Plaquemines Parish, Louisiana.

According to a DoE filing, Louisiana LNG Energy failed to comply with semi-annual reporting requirements on the project’s progress and also did not respond to the department’s contact attempts.

“DOE/FE has attempted to contact the person listed on LLNG’s filings as its official contact, as well as LLNG’s counsel of record. Emails to LLNG’s contact person bounced back, and LLNG’s counsel of record informed DOE/FE that they are no longer representing LLNG,” DoE’s filing reads.

In addition, DoE noted that the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has terminated the pre-filing review of the proposed facility, saying Louisiana LNG Energy has not filed any responses to FERC’s environmental data request.

DoE has issued an order to Louisiana LNG Energy to show cause why its authorizations should not be vacated, giving the company a 30-day limit to respond.

To remind, Louisiana LNG Energy proposed to construct four liquefaction trains with a production capacity of 2 million metric tons of LNG per annum, as well as LNG truck loading and marine terminal facilities.
