Gas Entec completes first U.S. LNG barge job

South Korean LNG engineering company Gas Entec delivered the liquefied natural gas handling equipment package for the 2,200-cbm bunkering barge being built by the Conrad Shipyard in Orange, Texas. 

Gas Entec added in its statement that the main cargo containment system is the GTT Mark III Flex system.

The company has provided the engineering detail design of the LNG cargo and bunkering handling system, along with supplying the related equipment and commissioning services.

In addition, the company delivered the electrical engineering for the first U.S. LNG bunkering barge, as well as the integration automation service, emergency shutdown system, cargo handling system, field measuring package, ship-to-ship communication link system and fire & gas detecting system.

The LNG barge is being built for WesPac Midstream and Clean Marine Energy service TOTE’s newbuild Marlin class container vessels and other LNG-fueled vessels in and around the Port of Jacksonville and the Southeast.

The barge designed by Bristol Harbor Group and classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) is scheduled for delivery during the first quarter of 2017.
