Gas Natural Fenosa opens LNG plant in Alicante

Gas Natural Fenosa opened an LNG regasification plant that will supply natural gas to the towns of Polop and La Nucía (Alicante) in the future.

The regasification module was opened by the Director-General for Energy of the Regional Government of Valencia, Antonio Cejalvo, the Mayor of Polop,Gabriel Fernández, the mayor of La Nucía, Bernabé Cano, and the Managing Director of Gas Natural Cegas,Roberto Cámara.

By building this LNG regasification module, the company will bring a natural gas supply to both towns while a gas pipeline is built. Gas Natural Cegas has invested 616,000 euros in this regasification module, which has been installed on the Pau de Polop industrial estate where the adjacent urbanisation already receives a natural gas supply.

The company expects to be supplying both towns by early next year. The first stage will consist of bringing a natural gas supply to approximately 1,125 homes and businesses in La Nucía and over 1,000 homes in Polop.
