Gazprom talks Nord Stream II participation with BASF

Gazprom invites BASF to join Nord Stream II project

Russian gas giant Gazprom said it talked with BASF about the possibility of the German company participating in the construction of the Nord Stream II gas pipeline.

Gazprom’s CEO Alexey Miller met in Berlin on Wednesday with Kurt Bock, Chairman of the BASF Board of Executive Directors where they, among other topics, discussed the Nord Stream II gas pipeline, according to a statement by Gazprom’s press office.

Gazprom, E.ON, Shell and OMV recently signed a memorandum of intent stipulating the construction of two strings of the Nord Stream II gas pipeline with an aggregate annual capacity of 55 billion cubic meters, to be laid from the Russian coast to the German coast via the Baltic Sea.
