Rederi AB Gotland of Sweden has signed a second contract with China’s Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) for an LNG-powered ferry with a capacity of 1650 passengers.
The LNG-powered high-speed RoPax ferry is a sister vessel to the one Gotland ordered at GSI last year, the company said in a statement on Thursday.
Once delivered in 2018, it will be the second Swedish-flagged passenger vessel with LNG propulsion.
The 200-metre long ferry will cost about SEK 1bn ($135m).
