French LNG containment specialist, GTT has received an order from a Korean shipyard for the tank design of two new liquefied natural gas tankers, reaching a total of 50 orders for the year 2018.

The company noted that the two 174,000-cbm LNG carriers are being built by a South Korean shipyard for an Asian shipowner without disclosing the names of either of the parties.

Both LNG carriers will feature GTT’s Mark III Flex containment system.

Commenting on the orders, GTT’s chairman and CEO, Philippe Berterottière, said that the number of vessels ordered this year has reached 50, “including 48 LNG carriers and 2 FSRUs.”

GTT added in its statement that the first vessel is scheduled for delivery in the first half of 2021 with the second one to follow in the second half of 2021.
