Indian companies plan Tamil Nadu LNG distribution

Indian companies researching LNG distribution options

IEV Energy said on Thursday that it has signed a binding memorandum of understanding with TL-Emrail consortium to launch a feasibility study on LNG distribution in Tamil Nadu, India.

IEV and the consortium, comprising Timah Langat Holdings and Emrail, intend to review the prospects of cooperation and undertaking projects for the processing, transportation and marketing of liquefied natural gas to industrial and vehicular sectors in Tamil Nadu, a statement by IEV reveals.

IEV Energy’s scope is limited to the market study and throughput services while TL-Emrail consortium shall conduct a feasibility study for the LNG complex and floating storage and regasification unit, and prepare the necessary permits, licences, and approvals from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Should the feasibility study indicate that the LNG projects are feasible, the parties will negotiate a throughput agreement, cooperation agreement, and/or other contractual arrangements based on mutual consensus, the statement added.
