Japan spot LNG price in March at USD 8.0 per MMBtu

The average price of spot LNG imported into Japan that was contracted in March is 8 USD/MMBtu DES basis, Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said in a statement.

The average price of spot LNG imported into Japan that arrived in March is 7.6 USD/MMBtu, dropping further from the 10.7 USD/MMBtu in February.

Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessment, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.

Japan imported 87.73 million tonnes of LNG in the fiscal year ended in March, up 1 percent compared to the same period a year ago.
