Knud E. Hansen’s General Manager for Greece Giuseppe Tringali, delivered a speech at a conference recently held in Athens, Greece.
Tringali discussed the opportunities for LNG in short-sea shipping in regards to the implementation of new regulatory framework linked to the environmental issues.
The Mediterranean area will soon become one of the Emission Controlled Areas in which case Sox and Nox emission will have to be lowered to a point where LNG will become a viable option for propulsion due to its lower environmental impact, stands in the Knud E. Hansen’s statement.
Tho Danish consultancy firm sees Greece as an ideal candidate to become an LNG hub due to its geopolitical conditions and recent gas discoveries off Cyprus and Israel.
