Liquefied natural gas (LNG) volumes at Lithuania’s first and only import terminal in the port of Klaipeda rose in September as compared to the same month a year before.

The Klaipeda LNG import terminal regasified 1.96 terawatt hours (TWh) in the month under review, a rise of almost 70 percent as compared to 1.16 TWh in September 2016, according to the latest data by the terminal operator, Klaipėdos Nafta.

However, during the January-September period, the LNG facility in total re-gasified and reloaded 10.67 TWh of the fuel, down almost 13 percent as compared to the same period in 2016.

The drop in the volumes is explained by lower capacities ordered by the terminal users, Klaipedos Nafta said.

Deliveries to Lithuania’s LNG terminal are being split between Litgas, a part of state-controlled energy group Lietuvos Energija, Lietuvos Duju Tiekimas, and Lithuanian fertilizer producer Achema.

Revenues coming from regas and reloading activities from Höegh LNG’s FSRU Independence used as Lithuania’s first import terminal in Klaipeda almost remained the same at 5.6 million euros ($6.59m) in September.

In the 9-month period, revenues rose 2.4 percent to 51.7 million euros, the data shows.
