MES dual-fuel engines ordered for LNG newbuilds

In order to meet the new low-sulphur regulations coming to power in January 2015, Mitsui Engineering and Shipbuilding signed a contract to deliver dual fuel engines for LNG newbuilds.

According to a company statement, MES dual fuel ME-GI engines will be supplied for two 178,000 cbm LNG carriers being built by Imabari Shipbuilding for Spanish shipowners Empresa Naviera Elcano.

Vessels with Mitsui-MAN B & W 7G70ME-C9.2-GI named large two-stroke slow speed engines are to be delivered in 2017.
