PetroChina completed the second phase of the expansion project at the Rudong LNG terminal in Jiangsu province by putting the 223,000-cbm storage tank into operation.

In addition to the LNG storage tank, the company started up the regasification facilities and pipelines, China Huanqiu Contracting and Engineering, a unit of China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) which is also PetroChina’s parent company, said in its statement.

With the completion of the second phase of the terminal’s expansion, the storage capacity has been increased to 680,000-cbm while the handling capacity rose to 6.5 mtpa of LNG.

The company is also running tests on a newly built storage tank at its Dalian LNG terminal where it is expected to double the annual handling capacity to 6 million tons of LNG, Reuters reports.
