Petronet LNG of India is said to be in the running to build an LNG terminal in Bangladesh.

According to Petronet LNG’s Managing Director, Ashok Kumar Balyan, the company participated in a call for expressions of interest by the Bangladesh government and ended up being shortlisted by its neighbour, Economic Times of India reports.

Balyan further said that once the winner is selected, it will be responsible for building and operating the 2,5 to 5 mtpa LNG terminal as well as for sourcing of gas.

Petronet operates two LNG terminals, the first at Dahej in Gujarat with the capacity of 10 Mtpa, and the second with a capacity of 5 Mtpa in Kochi, Kerala.
