Qatargas ships first spot cargo to Jera

Qatargas on Thursday said it has agreed the first spot LNG cargo purchase with Jera, a joint venture between Japanese utilities Tepco and Chubu Electric.

The spot purchase has been arranged under the newly executed master sales and purchase agreement between the two companies, Qatargas said in its statement.

The cargo was delivered onboard the Q-Flex LNG Vessel, Al Ruwais, to the Futtsu LNG Terminal in Tokyo Bay on May 13, 2016.

Qatargas will be supplying close to 7 mtpa of LNG on a long-term contract with Jera. In 2015, Qatargas shipped 14,6 million tons of LNG to Japan.
