Russia: Sakhalin Energy launches tender for 3rd LNG train

Sakhalin Energy, the operator of Russia’s only LNG plant, has on Thursday launched a tender for the construction of the third liquefaction train at the terminal on Sakhalin island.

The Sakhalin-2 LNG facility has currently two liquefaction trains with a capacity of  about 10 million tons per annum. The LNG plant is operated by Russian gas giant Gazprom with major shareholder Royal Dutch Shell.

According to the tender, the scope of work includes detailed design, procurement and construction of the third LNG train, third LNG tank, and a new jetty.

Sakhalin Energy is inviting potential contractors interested in participating in the tender to send their bids until June 1.

The contract is expected to be awarded in March of 2018.

In a separate tender, Sakhalin Energy has also invited companies to submit their bids for the provision of integrated EPC services on a lump sum basis for the upgrade of Sakhalin-2 gas transportation system.

The scope of work entails detailed design, procurement and construction for the upgrade of Booster Station No. 2, No. 3, and No. 4, according to the tender.

Final date for bids submission is June 1.

To remind, Gazprom and Shell signed on Thursday a memorandum of understanding under which the two companies agreed to expand their cooperation in the LNG business and study the possibilities for the construction of an LNG export plant in the port of Ust-Luga in the Luga Bay of the Gulf of Finland.
