Skangas Reports Bunkering Operation Incident

When bunkering Fjord Line’s MF Bergensfjord in Risavika on 9th May there was an LNG leakage in the connecting point between land and sea. The ship was bunkered by truck. The incident did not lead to any personnel injuries or any damage to the ship, Skangass said in a statement.

Due to the incident Skangass and Risavika LNG Production implemented additional preventive actions in order to increase safety when bunkering. An investigation has been performed in co-operation with Fjord Line.

As of 20th June some additional preventive actions were enforced by the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection. DSB will inspect the bunkering operation on Tuesday 24 June.

“We look very serious at the incident”, said Managing Director in Skangass Tor Morten Osmundsen. “It is important that we learn from our experiences and secure that the technical and organizational preventive actions are implemented in a good manner,” he concluded.
