A steel cutting ceremony for an ice-class LNG tanker ordered by Russia’s Sovcomflot was held on Monday at DSME’s shipyard in South Korea.
The 172,600 cbm vessel will be operated under a long-term time charter agreement between Sovcomflot and Yamal LNG.
It will be used to transport the chilled gas from the Novatek-operated Yamal LNG project in Russia.
The “Yamalmax” vessel will be 300 meters long and will have a width of 50 meters, according to a statement from Sovcomflot.
