Japan’s Tokyo Gas said its total gas sales volume for the month of March came to about 1,479.511 million m3, up 168.423 million m3 (12.8%) compared to March in 2013.

In the residential sector, volume totaled 419.941 million m3, up 20.596 million m3 (5.2%) from March 2013, due to lower average temperature compared to that in the same period last year. In the business sector (consisting of commercial, public, and medical use), volume totaled 250.553 million m3, up 15.067 million m3 (6.4%) from March 2013, due to lower average temperature compared to that in the same period last year.

In the industrial sector, volume totaled 605.511 million m3, up 115.334 million m3 (23.5%) from March 2013, due to the increased demand for power generation.

Volume for wholesale supply to other gas companies totaled 203.506 million m3, up 17.426 million m3 (9.4%) from March 2013, due to the increased demand of the other companies.

Tokyo Gas is Japan’s largest city gas supplier and its operations extend from participation in upstream LNG projects to transport by LNG tanker, conversion to gas at LNG terminals, gas supply through pipelines, sales of gas appliances, and safety at customer sites.
