Finish automation services provider, Valmet signed an agreement to supply the basic automation engineering for Gasum’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) operations in the Nordic countries.

The aim is to identify the optimal automation solution for collection and central control of all measurement data connected to the LNG terminal operations of Gasum’s subsidiary Skangas, according to Valmet’s statement.

The company, that declined to reveal the contract value, said the basic automation engineering phase has already started and will be finished in early May.

Once the basic engineering phase is complete, Gasum and Valmet will together define the needed functionalities and equipment.

“If Gasum decides to go forward with the system, Valmet’s solutions would be installed and used at LNG terminals in the Nordic countries operated by Gasum’s subsidiary Skangas,” Valmet’s statement reads.

Speaking of the company’s strategy, following the agreement with Gasum, Jani Hautaluoma, director of process automation at Valmet, said the company aims to capture a major share in the small-scale LNG market.
