Wintershall names new CEO

Germany’s oil and gas producer Wintershall informed that Mario Mehren will take over as chairman of the board of executive directors on June 1.

Mehren will succeed Rainer Seele, who will leave the company at the end of May to move to Austria’s OMV.

Mehren will continue to act as head of board department overseeing exploration and production in Russia, North Africa and South America, for the time being, the company said in a statement.

There has also been a change in chairman of the supervisory board at Wintershall as Hans-Ulrich Engel from BASF’s board of executive directors has taken over from Harald Schwager.
